lue-eyed Frog Found in Sumatera
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - frog species that has not been known previously found in the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Sumatra. Species included in this genus Leptobrachium unique because it has a blue iris color, either at the top or bottom.
This new type of frog found by Adiinggar Ul-Hasanah and Wempi Endarwin from Wildlife Conservation Society team in 2004, but it was still identified to genus phase alone, and unknown types. Further research conducted in 2008 by Amir Hamidy, staff Zoologicum Bogoriense Museum (MZB), Research Center for Biology, LIPI. Amir who was taking a masters with the topic and examine the taxonomic genus Leptobrachiummemeriksa frog specimens stored in museums in Malaysia, Japan, and certainly in Indonesia (MZB). "I measure and compare in detail all the morphological characters one by one from all these specimens, including all the specimens are stored in MZB-LIPI," he said.
